Contracts
The cost of employing a dedicated Systems Administrator or Technical Support person is usually prohibitive for smaller companies. A fully skilled and experience IT professional would command over £30000 per year, and if your IT Support needs are low, or occasional, this overhead is not justifiable.
But what happens if and when your system has problems? Remember that hardware failures are few and far between these days, and any hardware supplier will only remedy the actual failure - they will not restore the system to full operation by restoring backups and testing all users' connectivity.
The answer to this dilemma is to have an experienced Systems Administrator & Technical Support Specialist on contract, either to visit your site(s) on a regular basis, depending on the size and complexity of your systems and the degree of support required, or to be called on as and when necessary, for the peace of mind of knowing that someone skilled is only a phone call away.

It’s good to have a trusted Troubleshooter on call whenever there is a problem, without having to hunt around for someone to come to your aid.
